Troubleshooting common rigid
endoscope problems

Common problem in rigid endoscopes and their causes
Rigid endoscopes look durable and sturdy, but they
require appropriate care and handling to protect their
delicate components.

Problem: Blurred or foggy image
Cause: A broken or damage seal results in moisture trapped inside the scope.
Moisture can also occur when a non-autoclavable rigid endoscope is placed in an autoclave.
  A damaged objective rod lens

Problem: Bent outer tube
Cause: A bent outer tube is the result of improper handling such as dropping or bending the rigid endoscope. A bent outer tube also damages the inner tubing and other internal components.

Problem: No image or black screen
Cause: Broken rod lens or objective lens assembly can result in a lack of image or black screen when the rigid endoscope is in use.

Problem: A clear picture with black lines
Cause: Black lines, in an otherwise clear picture, indicate that the objective lens has been scratched or damaged during a procedure.
